This is Shamar Elkins and some of his children. Early this morning in Shreveport, Louisiana, Elkins carried out a domestic-related mass shooting, killing eight children ranging in age from 18 months to 14 years old. Most of the victims were his own children, with at least one reported to be a his aunt's child. Two adult women one of whom is the mother of some of the children, and the other her sister - were shot and wounded but survived. Another child escaped by climbing onto the roof and jumping off to get away. After the shooting, Elkins fled the scene, carjacked a vehicle, and led police on a chase into neighboring Bossier City, where he was fatally shot by officers during the confrontation. A total of 10 people were shot across multiple homes in the Cedar Grove neighborhood. This is an unimaginable tragedy.
