Someone give me a honest answer to why Americans are so friendly Everyone holds open the door for you, stops for you and traffic, asks about your day and makes jokes with you. The rest of the world calls you rude though, why?

Americans, I need to ask something that may sound stupid 🇺🇸 Did you actually grow up with a basement? In Japan, most people go their whole life without ever having one. I’ve never lived in a house with a basement. Not as a bedroom. Not as a game room. Not as a storage space. Not as a storm shelter. But for some Americans, basements seem to be part of childhood, family memories, sleepovers, laundry rooms, creepy stories, or tornado safety. So I want to understand: Was your basement normal and boring? Scary? A family hangout spot? Or something only certain states really understand?

OZAKI YU🇯🇵_尾崎ユウ
🇯🇵 I am Ozaki, a Japanese citizen. I have a question for people around the world. When I say, “I want to preserve the beautiful Japan I grew up in for my grandchildren,” I am often labeled as a far-right extremist or nationalist and attacked for it. Has anyone else experienced something similar? If so, why do you think this happens? Is wanting to protect your own country really considered a bad thing? I am not talking about hating other people or other countries. I am simply talking about wanting to preserve the culture, traditions, safety, and values that shaped my homeland. I would genuinely like to hear perspectives from people around the world. 🌏🙏

Asian-Americans are such a huge embarrassment for the rest of us. So many of them are crazy brainwashed leftist types. This guy burnt a cross with a MAGA hat on it and then called for an assassination. Jail and deport to communist China right now.

@harukaawake For all the over the top atrocities, yeah apologies are appropriate. Japan kinda brushes this stuff under the rug.

@japan_nobunaga It isn’t guns that make a place violent. It’s the violent people who use guns for crime. See the UK for other samples of how guns aren’t the issue.

Americans, teach me 🇺🇸 Japan has almost no guns and very low crime. America has lots of guns and a huge debate about it. But here's what genuinely confuses me: my American friends online feel SAFER with a gun, not less safe. Can someone explain that mindset to a curious Japanese guy? 🙏

Honestly, racism is one of those things many Japanese people struggle to understand. If we see a white person, we think, "Oh, they're white." If we see a black person, we think, "Oh, they're black." If there were blue people, we'd probably think, "Oh, they're blue." And that's about as far as it goes. If someone is nice, we think they're nice. If someone is an asshole, we think they're an asshole. If we like them, we like them. If we don't, we don't. We grow up being told not to cause trouble, not to fight, and to get along with the people around us. Maybe that's why judging someone by their race feels so foreign to a lot of Japanese people. We're usually too busy judging people by whether they're good people or not.
