Who else is going to be at #hapc26 in San Diego next week? We've been hard at work planning events for students, residents, trainees, and early career attendings again this year. Personally? I'm super excited for dueling pianos 😎. Hope to see you there!

Academic decision algorithm v 7.0- a testament to #SocialMedia peer review, as all versions past 1.0 were improved upon by feedback from colleagues on @twitter. This edition improved by @JRandallCurtis1. There is a descriptive publication here somewhere... #MedEd #MedTwitter

Most patients don't realize their doctors and nurses think about them in the spaces between visits. While walking to the parking lot, driving home, brushing teeth… even before falling asleep. Our work is a part of us, and we really care about you. That's all.

This opportunity was a gift! Dr. Vandervall's colleagues described her by saying, "she made you want to be a better person, while also fully accepting you just as you were." What a special person & doctor; I wish I could have met her. TY for having me🩷 tinyurl.com/2mz8t64k

If you’re a med student or resident and gave support to someone in a difficult moment today, this day was a success, no matter what else happened. Hold on to these words on the days you feel inefficient or undervalued. Your presence matters more than you know.

Four years ago today, I walked into the apocalypse. Crossing the line in the ER felt like entering a whole other world. Frenetic alarms. Patients strewn about, struggling to breathe. Too few staff. Too many deaths. Covid was everything. It had completely taken over our ER

We can be equally exhausted by our work & fulfilled by it. We can love a job that makes us weary. It doesn't mean it's the wrong work. It's a reminder we need time to restore ourselves. Like the space between wood for a fire to burn, we too need space to thrive.

How many medical schools teach future doctors the phenomenology of dying? Death is a universal human outcome. Doctors need to be able to recognise, respect & accompany dying once life-saving treatment is no longer appropriate. They can't respect what they don't know. #MedEd
