It's the same thing. If it was something you could screen for with a genetic screening, you'd make the same argument. We were all were once a fetus. Even you. Every single strand of your genetic code existed the moment you were conceived. Your entire genetic blueprint, including your sex, eye color, and other traits. The uniqueness of humanity is contained in that zygote, then embryo, then fetus, then infant, toddler, child, adolescent, and then adult.. but always human. Just at a different stage of development. My ability to suffer, to think, to produce, to contribute just my abilities have nothing to do with my worth. No matter what stage my disability is diagnosed at, it does not define my worth. The burden I potentially place on others or society doesn't define my worth or value. I inherently have worth because I'm a human being. What you're doing is called dehumanization. It's been the justification behind every human atrocity mankind has ever committed. If you can justify killing a child in the womb because you think it's life will be suboptimal or make yours more difficult... it's no different than making the argument against killing me. All Humans have equal value without qualifiers or none of us has value. You don't get to decide who has worth and who doesn't. I dare you to go to to a person with Down syndrome and tell them they don't have value. Do it. Tell their family. You do realize that not all downs syndrome cases are the same??? That it's not remotely equally severe across all cases? BTW MS has a genetic component, they just don't know what it is yet.... I'm a human being, my disability does not define me. My worth is inherent, just like that baby's was also inherent. Just like every person with Down syndrome. This is just eugenics by another name and you support it. Abortion ends a human life, no matter what way you swing it. It does. You may think it's justified, but it ends a life. Period. Trick yourself into thinking terminating a pregnancy is different than killing a living person... use more palatable words... strip the humanity from the unborn ...call it a pregnancy instead... terminating a pregnancy is so much easier to talk about than terminating a fetus. Than killing a fetus. How you view it depends on if it's wanted. It's a fetus if you don't want it, a baby in the fetal development stage if you do want it . It's human no matter what, even if you don't want them to be. It's alive no matter in or out of the womb. No matter how you excuse ending a life..
