18 months ago, I decided to join with @Red_Xiao_ and @peakji on my sofa. No one knew where it would lead. We just kept building, pivoting, and shipping—again and again—until now. Grateful to our team and every user who believed early. Day 1 isn’t over. We’ll keep shipping. More on the journey: x.com/hidecloud/stat…

I think the TRUE personal software era era is real. In ~2 hours on Manus Desktop, I built my own Mac launcher and screenshot app. Not a demo. Not a mockup. A real app that matched my specs and even added a few bonus touches. I have used Alfred for more than a decade, so I do not say this lightly: I already prefer my own app.

In March 2023, we started Dify with one belief: this technology should reach everyone equally. Two and a half years later — 1.4 million devices, 175 countries, #51 on GitHub. Today we're announcing a $30M Pre-A round. But what I really want to talk about is what comes next: a world where every team builds software and Agents that are entirely their own — no adapting to off-the-shelf tools, no prerequisite engineering degree. Developers are where we start. Everyone is where we're going. We have a long way to go.
Dify@dify_ai

Dify has raised $30M in our Pre-A round. We started this in March 2023 with one conviction: AI should be accessible to everyone, not just the best-resourced teams. Two and a half years later, over 2,000 teams and 280 enterprises build their own AI workflows on Dify. Not adopting solutions. Building them. 🎂 Manus turns one today. One year ago, Manus was a bold experiment. Today, it's so much more than we imagined - and we can't take the credit. You can, though. You helped us define what a general AI agent truly means. You turned a tool into part of your daily life. You proved that when Agent meets humans, what Agent connects isn’t just APIs - but imagination and reality. A mother found time for both work and her kids. An 86-year-old linguist built his dream app. A florist reimagined how she runs her shop. We put it all into our first annual letter. The moments, the surprises, and where we're headed next. Scroll to the bottom and add your photo. This letter isn't complete without you. 🔗 Read the Full Letter: manus.im/community/year… #ManusAI #ManusCommunity #Anniversary #ManusYearOne #AgentYearOne

I’m really excited to share that I’m joining Benchmark. The past two years as a full time investor have been the most rewarding of my career. I really love venture capital, which is not something I ever imagined I’d say when I was kid, but here we are. I love new ideas and being part of a team with a mission. I love getting to be there for people who are struggling towards goals they really care about. I love learning from people who are better CEOs than I ever was. I love the texture of the work, the competition, and the way the job lets you invest in relationships. I love it so much that I’ve even turned into a little venture nerd with a podcast who goes around harassing great investors and founders, trying to learn as much as I can as fast as possible. I’ve certainly learned what I care most about, and what kind of investor I want to be. What I’ve realized is that I love investing at the Series A, when there’s enough going on that an investor can be useful but not so much that you can’t have an impact. I think there are many amazing ways to practice venture, it’s just the way that most speaks to me. And as I came to realize that, I started to think about how to best set myself up to do that craft as well as possible. It became clear to me there is nowhere better for this than Benchmark; the way they’re structured, their principles, their overall approach to investing, and their track record all create an environment that I believe will let me do my best work as an investor and help founders the most I possibly can. As I’ve gotten to know the team at Benchmark I’ve come to admire so much about each of them. Peter is truly playing his own game. A lot of what he says sounds like poetry at first, but as the ideas roll around in your head for a while you realize how much depth they have. I first heard about Eric many years ago from my friend Saji at Benchling while I was building Lattice, who described him as the most amazing board member and attributed him with a lot of the company’s success. That’s the kind of partner I want to be one day. Chetan is brilliant and truly thinks for himself; I’ve realized over time what a courageous guy he is. And then there’s my friend Ev, whose skills complement mine and who I just love to be around. I can’t wait to have him as a partner in crime. When given the chance to work with this group I just knew I had to go. One of my motivating north stars with Alt Capital was to build a firm and be a partner that I most would have wanted as an entrepreneur. Although I haven’t gotten everywhere I want to be yet, I’m proud of the work so far. And now I’m excited to build on that work at Benchmark, where I hope to increase my rate of learning and get armed with the power of a partnership so I can help founders reach their dreams even more. Thank you to the companies who’ve let me invest with them at Alt Cap. I’m keeping all my board seats and supporting everyone just the same as before. Thank you to the LPs who’ve backed me as well. I am so excited about the portfolio we have and am grateful I can stick with all those companies. And finally thank you to my teammates, Bala, Vivek, and Nate. Bala took a bet on me and started investing with me before it was remotely obvious, and we’ve been able to grow so much figuring it out together as investors. I credit Nate with helping Alt start feeling like a firm. He joined us from First Round over a year ago and made everything run smoothly. And while Vivek joined just a little while ago, even in the short time we’ve worked together he’s had a meaningful impact on how we think and invest. They’re all joining Benchmark with me. So pumped for this chapter.
Benchmark@benchmark

We are thrilled to share that @jaltma is joining Benchmark as our newest General Partner. The Benchmark partnership is built on a shared commitment to the craft of venture capital, where our work is defined by the depth of service and commitment to the founders we work with. We believe this work does not scale and is best practiced where we win as a team of partners. By operating as a true partnership rather than a collection of individual franchises, we ensure that every founder we back benefits from our combined experience and a singular, shared commitment to their success. We first met Jack as a founder of Lattice over a decade ago. We followed Jack as he built Lattice into a leader in its category and navigated the turbulence that every software company faced in 2020. We admired Jack’s character and the way he prioritized transparency and authenticity to build a great team. That same value system defined his transition to founding a venture capital firm, Alt Cap, where he has made a familiar commitment to craft and service over capital. As an investor, Jack has partnered with some of the most ambitious founders of the generation with his investments in Legora, Rogo, Owner, Avoca, Rippling, and many others. Founders told us “I call Jack first to work through the toughest problems,” “He is my most trusted partner on the board,” and “Jack provides steady and grounded support that is rooted in having been a founder himself.” He combines relentless energy, deep intellectual curiosity, and a competitiveness to see founders win, all anchored by high integrity. We have always believed that our firm’s strength lies in its equal partnership: a small, focused group of individuals who operate with the same authority, responsibility, and singular mission to support entrepreneurs from the earliest stages. By joining our partnership, Jack brings a fresh perspective that will help us continue this mission. Welcome to Benchmark, Jack. – Ev, Chetan, Eric, Peter

Yichao 'Peak' Ji@peakji

Well, I think I need to clarify this: Manus personal agent mode is not based on @openclaw. It is still built entirely on Manus's in-house architecture. That said, I still believe it's necessary to pay respect to the OpenClaw project, because it further experimented with and helped shape the "safety boundary" between users and agents. Exactly one year ago today, we were doing the final polishing before Manus's release. The problem that troubled us the most at the time was actually: How do you make users trust an agent? This isn't about the source code - it's about the uncertainty that comes with limitless possibility. Back then, non-technical users, and really the entire world, had no concrete experience with AI agents. User education therefore fell onto a small startup. 😂 To address this, we designed four things: * Cloud Sandbox: A fully isolated virtual machine is launched for each task so it cannot affect the user's own computer. * Task Replay: You can replay tasks shared by others in read-only mode to safely explore what an agent is. * Interruptible Action Chain: You can inspect the agent's step-by-step actions and interrupt or correct them on the fly. * GUI Takeover: Whenever login or human intervention is required, the agent requests the user to take control of the browser, mouse, and keyboard. These safety measures accompanied Manus through its first year. They allowed millions of users to experience a general agent for the first time, and eventually became standard features across agent products. Times have changed. As agents complete tasks more reliably, run faster, models grow smarter, and users become more familiar with them, we believe it's time to move from "building trust" toward "lowering the barrier". We are now doing this by: * Reusing Manus's mature virtualization layer so users can use it without configuration. * Introducing a new context-management system so users won't need to switch sessions in messengers. * Using intelligent subagent scheduling to parallelize tasks while balancing speed and quality. * Replacing more slash commands and menus with natural language. This strongly aligns with our long-standing mission: To extend human reach. To put the full power of AI to work by unlocking the code, not just for engineers but for everyone.

We've fixed it now... for transparency, here's what actually happened: 1. A few hours ago cron jobs and reminders were indeed broken - the backend services hadn't finished rolling out the new version yet, but the post went live first😂. It should be working now. 2. Regarding the new chat mechanism: we intentionally want to avoid users having to think about explicit session management. Unlike many open-source products, Manus is designed for the broadest set of users, so we don't want to burden non-technical users with extra concepts. Because of that, we invested heavily in a new context compaction and multi-agent coordination system. As usual, we might write a blog post about it later. Some of the tech has already been shared here: rlancemartin.github.io/2025/10/15/man… 3. The "switch agent mode" part wasn't explained clearly in the blog, it actually applies to subtasks. In messengers, Manus automatically uses different agent modes based on the difficulty of decomposed subtasks to balance speed and quality. If you want to switch manually, it's simple: just say something like "...lite mode is enough for this". Similar to point #2, we're trying to avoid adding extra commands or UI options so normal users can interact as naturally as possible.

Oh, and this is just the beginning 😏 Coming up: – Create your own specialized agents and plug them into any group chat. – Landing on WhatsApp, LINE, Slack, Discord very soon. – Native Windows & Mac apps that let Manus operate your computer (think our Browser Operator… but way more powerful). – And yeah… a LOT more already in the shipping pipeline. Big updates dropping over the next 30 days. Let’s build. 🚀
