You don’t rewrite a 40-year-old FOI law - and make it retroactive - unless you’re trying to hide something. Ontario’s privacy watchdog is clear: this will make government more secretive, not more secure. This isn’t about privacy. It’s about Doug Ford dodging accountability. #onpoli globalnews.ca/news/11740683/…

Premier Doug Ford, who promised to build 1.5 million homes by 2031, is now opposing housing development in the Portlands because building heights might impact the government’s new plan to expand the runway at Billy Bishop Airport. #onpoli

In a landmark finding, scientists have confirmed that asteroid Ryugu harbors all five nucleobases essential to DNA and RNA—the fundamental “letters” of the genetic code that store and transmit biological information. The nucleobases—adenine, guanine, cytosine, thymine, and uracil—were detected in remarkably balanced quantities within samples returned by Japan’s Hayabusa2 mission. The spacecraft collected just 5.4 grams (about 0.2 ounces) of material from the near-Earth asteroid Ryugu, including both surface dust and fresh subsurface fragments exposed when the probe deliberately impacted the body to eject material. This complete set of nucleobases in one place strengthens the hypothesis that asteroids and meteorites could have delivered key ingredients for life to the early Earth during its formative bombardment phase. Ryugu is not alone in showing extraterrestrial organic chemistry. The famous Murchison meteorite (fell in Australia, 1969) contained amino acids and several nucleobases, while NASA’s OSIRIS-REx mission recently identified similar organic compounds on asteroid Bennu. What sets Ryugu apart is the presence of all five DNA/RNA nucleobases together in roughly comparable abundances, offering the most comprehensive “prebiotic toolkit” yet recovered from space. Researchers believe these molecules likely formed within water-rich environments on a larger parent body that later fragmented to produce Ryugu and similar asteroids. Chemical reactions—possibly mediated by ammonia or other catalysts—over hundreds of millions of years could have produced and preserved these fragile compounds. While the exact pathway of formation remains under investigation, and it is still unclear whether these molecules directly contributed to the origin of life on Earth, the discovery points to a compelling possibility: the basic chemical ingredients required for life may be far from rare. They could be distributed widely throughout the solar system. [“A complete set of canonical nucleobases in the carbonaceous asteroid (162173) Ryugu.” Nature Astronomy, 2026]

The Legislature is back today. Doug Ford kept it closed for an extra month so he could avoid questions. In that time, he gutted OSAP, announced a billion-dollar island nobody asked for, and changed the FOI rules to protect his cell phone records. Ontarians want a government that makes life more affordable, delivers better care faster, and creates opportunities so families can actually get ahead. We're here to fight for that.

The math on William Shatner’s existence is hard to process. He was born closer to the Civil War than to today. Montreal, 1931. His father manufactured clothes. His first acting role came in 1951, the same year color TV was introduced to the American public. Star Trek premiered in 1966. It lasted 3 seasons and got cancelled. The first rerun aired before humans had walked on the Moon. Those reruns are still generating licensing revenue 57 years later. He’s been famous for 60 consecutive years. He survived being typecast so severely in the 1970s that he did convention appearances for grocery money. He survived his third wife’s death. He survived Hollywood writing him off as a joke. Then he weaponized the joke. Priceline commercials. The roast. Spoken-word albums where he recites Elton John lyrics as dramatic monologue. Every project that should have ended his career somehow added to it. At 73, back-to-back Emmys for Boston Legal. At 90, oldest person to fly to space. At 94, a Super Bowl ad. At 95, 4.3 million people watching him smoke a cigar on X. His career has now outlasted the Soviet Union, the Space Shuttle program, Blockbuster Video, MySpace, and the first three generations of AI models. He’s been working since Truman and he’s posting through the Claude era. The compounding is the point. 75 years of showing up created a distribution moat that no amount of talent alone could replicate.

At 95, I'm still smokin'! 😝 I’ve learned two things: Never waste a good cigar. Never trust anyone who says you should ‘act your age.’ 😉👍🏻
