Solo founder building @SeatlyUK + @DraftDeckApp + @LearnPanjabiApp. No investors, questionable time management. Bit of music on the side 🫡

Okay so here's something most people don't know about restaurants. Your favourite local spot probably pays a fee every time you book a table. Not just monthly. Per person. Per visit. I'm building the alternative. 🧵

The monthly price is never the price. OpenTable: "£99/mo." Then £0.50 to £2 per cover. I built a total cost calculator. The real number, not the headline. Checks ResDiary and TheFork too. Mine: from £59/mo flat, no per cover. Nothing hidden. #buildinpublic #ukrestaurants

Spent two weeks on plumbing no user will ever thank me for. Right-to-erasure. One-click export. Auto-deleting old records. Single-use tokens. Billing locked to the server. No viral screenshot in that. But it's how a restaurant trusts you with diners' data. #buildinpublic

So what’s the deal with communities then? Are they here to stay, anyone else from the community willing to comment?

I thought communities were going away at the end of may? In any case I used to post about my project @SeatlyUK a fair bit before I heard the shutdown news. Here's a recent post from LinkedIn I'd like to share on our stance as a business linkedin.com/posts/harnake-…

@yabsssai @SeatlyUK Staff workflow first. Diner gives their name and party size at the door. Staff tap it in, system texts them when the table’s ready. No app, no QR code, no friction. A customer facing queue screen could come later but most independents I’ve spoken to prefer managing it themselves.

@hxrnake @SeatlyUK i'm curious about the walk-in queue function. in the past, i've used a similar approach but with a mobile app for the users - did you consider making the experience seamless with existing walk-in diners, or did you prioritize the staff's workflow?

Not every diner books online. Built a walk in queue for @SeatlyUK this week. Staff add the party, set the size. Table’s ready? System texts them. 1 Edge Function, 3 migrations, 1 happy workflow. #buildinpublic #shipped

71 commits this week. 4 new features. 14 QA fixes. 3 outreach emails to local restaurants. First time founder energy is something else. #buildinpublic #founderstory

Quandoo is shutting down on 30 September 2026. If you run an independent UK restaurant and need a replacement before then, I wrote a practical breakdown of the costs, timeline and switching path here: seatly.uk/vs/quandoo/

@Rusty19742 I was saying this yesterday! What plan are you on? Even switching down to sonnet from opus 4.6 it’s still burning through tokens. I know how to prompt and work efficiently as well, something has definitely changed under the hood 🤔

I'm seeing huge number of people either downgrading their Claude plan, or switching to Codex. This has got to be a wake up call for Anthropic.

Okay, Claude is basically unusable right now. One simple request, and it's like 15% of usage gone.

Launching soon? Build buzz now. I'm putting together Seatly's pre-launch growth kit. It covers X, LinkedIn, Reddit. Every interaction gets tracked. It's not just coding. What's one thing you did pre-launch that paid off? #buildinpublic #milestone

Anyone seeing weird token spikes the past couple days? Even with ~30–40% context and split chats, 1 small prompt per chat is instantly maxing usage. Same workflow’s been fine for months. Curious if it’s just me or a wider issue 🤔

@trq212 Hey seeing sudden token spikes in Claude Code. Even with 30–40% context and split chats, 1 prompt per chat maxes usage instantly. This never happened before (same workflow). Suspect Opus 4.7 / tool context issue. Any insight or workaround? Support hasn’t been responsive🙏

Juggling a side project with a full-time job is tough. Getting employment disclosure approved felt huge. Many conversations paid off. Now I have clarity to keep building Seatly. What's your biggest side-project hurdle? #buildinpublic #founderstory

The booking widget embeds into WordPress with one script tag. No plugin. No theme changes. Paste the code, add the restaurant slug, done. Tested a self-hosted WP install. 2 minutes start to finish. Other platforms next. #buildinpublic #indiehackers Seatly.uk

Ever hit a big internal milestone? Seatly just marked Phase 1 as code-complete. It feels good. Countless hours went into this. Now we move to the next stage. Onwards and upwards! #buildinpublic #milestone

Want full brand control for your restaurant? @SeatlyUK just added optional email footer branding. You decide if our badge appears in return for a small discount. It's your brand, your choice. A small detail, but it makes a big difference. #buildinpublic #shipped

@an_hyoung Hadn't tried leading with it. My /vs/ pages tuck the "when they're still the right choice" section about two-thirds down. Acknowledgement is there but it's not the opening move. Worth testing whether pulling it up earlier shifts the conversion. The trust logic tracks.

@hxrnake Comparison pages convert better than feature pages because they meet users mid-decision, not pre-decision. Counter-intuitive tip: lead with one thing the competitor does genuinely better. Builds trust and makes the rest of the page believable.

Building comparison pages? I just launched /vs/resdiary for Seatly. It helps restaurants choose. What's your strategy for these pages? Do you focus on features or pricing? Share your best tips! #buildinpublic
