@Headteacherchat Yes, being interrupted. It’s either poor manners, total disrespect, lack of awareness or just plain arrogance.

You don’t need a posh blazer to learn your times tables, and Shakespeare is just as inspiring in a supermarket sweater. Ahead of the school term I'm calling on schools to bring uniform costs down now, rather than wait for Labour's new laws to take action. thesun.co.uk/money/36341448…

Let’s be clear: the focus on Rachel Reeves showing emotion isn’t just tired — it’s deeply revealing of outdated attitudes. Rachel is the first woman Chancellor in British history. In just a year, she has delivered more for public services, stability, and economic credibility

I've always believed politics is about giving people the freedom to choose their own path in life. So if young people want to have more children, they should have the security to do so. Accessible, affordable, high-quality childcare is key to that. telegraph.co.uk/politics/2025/…

Labour is reforming childcare, expanding eligibility for Free School Meals, rolling out free breakfast clubs to boost parents’ work choices and children’s life chances. We’re on the side of families. Reform and the Tories are on the side of private schools and their tax breaks.

Growth is our national mission, to get more money in people's pockets. We're going further and faster to get Britain building, unlocking critical national infrastructure projects and stopping the blockers who have stifled growth for too long. x.com/i/broadcasts/1…

Plenty anger on the Tory benches, little by way of ideas. Still clutching to their dire record Still defending stuck schools Still protecting uniform racketeers Still set to cut £1.8 bn from state schools Labour is cutting costs for parents and driving higher school standards.

It is an awful policy which was put in the manifesto as a vote-winning exercise not because it makes financial sense. The ‘extra’ money for state schools will/could fund 6500 teachers. That’s about 0.3 teachers per school. Not exactly a ground breaking number! It also doesn’t take into account the number of extra places which will be required in state schools because those who previously could just afford to send their children to independent schools will no longer be able to. This policy means that only those for whom the extra 20% on fees actually won’t make much difference are the ones who will continue to send their children to independent schools and many of those who had the aspiration of doing so won’t. It is increasing the social divide, not reducing it. Like many of the policies your government announced in the pre-election manifesto it was designed as a vote winner without the consequences of it being properly thought through. The no increase promise for income tax, VAT and National Insurance was the same. You’ve got around the NI promise by using semantics. Unfortunately 2025 is going to be a very difficult year for the government and, therefore, a great many other people. Let’s see how this post ages in 12 months time…..

For too long children have been held back, not because of a lack of talent, but a lack of opportunity. I’m determined to change that. That starts with ending the tax break enjoyed by private schools so we can put more money into our state schools. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…
