@GFifdeeP @thenolan @barstoolsports By the time it penetrated larger parts of the US the other big 3 North American sports were already well established and had an easier barrier to entry. If anything hockey is increasingly a classist sport for the well off (even more so these days)

@GFifdeeP @thenolan @barstoolsports Racism certainly played its part but you ignore important factors like geography. Hockey which until the 1980s was largely only popular in Canada (where the black population is right now 4%) and a few states in the northern US.

It was a single league among many that is important because of the innovations it made to the game that were adopted by the NHL. He is trying to frame the discussion as if that league invented hockey as a whole.

@EmilyFarina5 @RM_Transit Why should we care about the market share for Air Canada who price gouge customers all the time? A cheap alternative will force airlines to compete which means lower prices and better benefits. It shouldn't cost $300 to fly from Toronto to Montreal

@RM_Transit As much as I support high-speed rail, I don’t see the point if heavily subsidized Alto trains take market share away from the profitable airline business. That’s why Air Canada has the bases covered as both the dominant air carrier and a partner in the Cadence HSR consortium.

We are never going to get high speed rail in Canada if we can't rationally weigh the enormous quantity of urban dwellers who will (largely, but not only) benefit against the small number of rural NIMBYs.

@GamesCage_ @chara_betty The way I see it is you shouldn't separate them. BOTW and TOTK as a direct sequel are a package. TOTK as a direct sequel should be building on and improving the things in BOTW, not reinventing this (that is what the new switch 2 entry should be doing).

I think thats a valid reason tho D: There was a magic to discovering hyrule, finding all these secrets, climbing mountains, tree tops, mazes, finding dragons & a unique feeling of “hey, unironically go anywhere u want. Its ur world” that just doesnt hit the same when ur building on the same foundation for the sequel. I 100% agree that on a gameplay front, TOTK IS better, but that BOTW has more of an aura/feel that I feel Tears does not match

Tears of the Kingdom is better than breath of the wild in every single way and people dislike it only because it didn't give them the same thrill Botw gave them, because it obviously builds on botw

@chara_betty That is the way a sequel should work. Like this is a direct sequel not a brand new entry like BOTW is. It should build on what made the first one good and fix things that needed to be improved, not reinvent the wheel.

@PierrePoilievre @avilewis They will prop the Liberals up just as Singh did. Your only hope is to get as conservative as you can and fast. We don't need a repeat of Erin O'Toole. If you can't beat Carney the second time around Canada is officially screwed permanently, and the LPC will rule forever.

Congratulations to @avilewis on being voted in as the new leader of the NDP. I look forward to working to hold the Carney Liberals to account for the worst grocery price inflation and fastest-shrinking economy in the G7. We must make Canada affordable and safe for us all.
