I spent about 6 hours offline today navigating real-life corporate chaos at the office, and honestly, sometimes you just have to laugh so you don't cry in this country. Between 1-2PM, I was sitting at the office cafeteria eating lunch. Since today is Friday, the sharp corporate suits were swapped for corporate casual, but the aura in the room was heavy. Nobody was even talking about career growth or grammar anymore; everyone was just exhausted, counting down to the weekend, and desperately praying for salary pay-day while secretly calculating the debts they already owe before the alert even drops. Looking at that room, a brutal reality hit me. The system lied to us. If you are a Nigerian graduate trying to follow the traditional corporate path head-on, you are fighting a losing battle because a local salary simply cannot survive the current inflation and exchange rate. The matrix is literally programmed to keep you running on a hamster wheel of working to pay off debts, without ever making real progress. That’s why I cherish my hybrid setup. It gives me corporate structure, but the absolute second I log off? I run straight to the global market. While people in the cafeteria were busy stressing over how to survive till next week, my mind was strictly on global outsourcing and AI data platforms. Earning only in Naira in this economy is financial self-sabotage. You need a USD shield, whether it’s through virtual assistant roles or AI micro-tasks.
