Really nice article - I have tried to validate vendor metrics of time in EHR against my personal use for a week, and they were way off. @adziorny and @markmaiwords - can we use audit logs to do a better job of this?

It’s Camp Week at @ChildrensPhila! This has always been one of my favorite weeks of the year at the hospital-I love how everyone (patients and staff) get into the spirit. Plus the decorations are super fun!

“Although EHR design often bears the brunt of the blame for frustrations expressed by physicians, the EHR user experience is influenced by...decisions made by entities other than the developers and end users, such as regulators, policymakers, and administrators.”
AMIA@AMIAinformatics

New #JAMIA article takes a look at multiple opportunities for regulators, policymakers, #EHR developers, payers, health system leadership, and users to make changes to collectively improve the use and efficacy of EHRs. Free to view ow.ly/maR250uQW1f

@subhaairan @EricShelov @origamidoc #toogoodtobetrue indeed! I share your enthusiasm, but am more pessimistic about our ability for the win-win scenario. Internally, we struggle with melding good design practices with workflow and admin constraints. Might be too much of an ask for this to happen on a larger stage.

Clickbaity articles about docs being tethered to the EHR, like this one, are not part of the solution. While there are some nice parts of the piece from Judy Faulkner and Larry Garber on ways to improve, the title, opening, and closing were all "woe is me" computerworld.com/article/339703…

My favorite is: C-Level manager: Can you distill this extraordinarily complex project into a single number that I can put on my dashboard? Me: But it’s too complex to roll up into one... C-Level: Thanks!
David Meza@davidmeza1

What is the most head banging question posed to you? Mine -> C-Level Mgr: Can you build us a dashboard, it will really help us. Me: Sure, first, what questions are you trying to answer & where is the data. C Mgr: If I knew that I would not need the dashboard. Me: #aneurysm

Speechless. I offered a free human factors consult and they said they had it covered with the sign. My offer still stands.

Even though more rural Americans have health coverage than a decade ago, a new @NPRHealth poll finds 26% haven’t been able to get care when they needed it recently. Poll with @RWJF @HarvardChanSPH. #LifeinRural n.pr/2WV4WZt
