Focussing mainly on personal tax measures, below are links to the parts of the budget that were most interesting to me. Overall, I think I would sum it up as an effort to clarify and clean up a few areas. - Throwing support to health care workers who have had a hard time since Covid. - Eliminating a targeted luxury tax. - Eliminating burdensome UHT. - Eliminating double dipping on medical/home accessibility tax credits. - Eliminating creative avoidance of the 21 year trust deemed disposition rules. - Increasing the ability to identify contractors who are really more like employees. - Plus a movement toward automatic tax filing for certain individuals. Nothing too controversial like last year's capital gains inclusion rate drama.
