It’s a full circle moment for #TeamKenya as we watch Madina Okot become the 3rd Kenyan to step onto the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and here’s why.👇 In 2020, NOC-K held its first ever Youth Camp during the holidays, in Lukenya and that’s the 1st time Madina had a chance to interact with #TeamKenya. Her journey hasn’t been linear. At her first high school, she was pushed toward volleyball, it didn’t quite click. A school transfer to Kaya Tiwi secondary changed things. That’s where she leaned fully into basketball and started to grow into herself and over the holidays, her skills grew in the Lukenya Camp. Born in Mumias, her path to Lukenya came through NOC-K’s effort, working with KBF, to bring together young talent from across the country. Since then, we’ve watched her evolve from 5x5 to 3x3 adapting, learning, rising and when Birmingham Commonwealth Games came, and Kenya had an opportunity to play 3X3, it was obvious that the team from the 2020 was to represent Kenya in its 1st 3x3 basketball team to Commonwealth Games. Watching her join Kenya Ports Authority to play in the Kenya Basketball Federation League, to join the University of Missisipi and go on to the University of South Carolina was just the beginning. And now, a young girl from that Lukenya camp stands at 6’6, playing in Atlanta, on one of the biggest stages in women’s basketball. Proof that sometimes all it takes is the right exposure, the right people and the courage to stay the course. (Attaching in next thread, a throwback interview from 2022, right after Birmingham.)

Victor Wanyama has retired from football. He had 8 goals in the 64 games he played for Harambee Stars. Id want to speak to players in the Kenyan Premier League and those aspiring footballers with hopes that they'd make it in this sphere. Those who have had the privilege of talking/working with Victor will tell you that he was a funny human but, most importantly, one who was dedicated to his craft. Shy human in front of a crowd but a workaholic away from the cameras. He might not have been talented as some of his peers, but he hated distractions that came with the craft. This is the place that any aspiring footballer should be drawing his/her inspiration from. Playing in the top five European Leagues isn't for everyone, and to me, he remains the best footballer we ever exported to Europe. @pepeta_ke

@edonuema @bedjosessien C'mon trusting Desabre is one thing, the other and more important is whether you can assemble half the quality of squad that is DRC. Even for DRC, with their Pros, it has taken them what, 52 yrs??

#UnpopularOpinion: @Seb_Desabre is a very good coach who deserves all the success in his game. Well done with @FecofaRdc and the Leopards but would he take @UgandaCranes to the @FIFAWorldCup this year? I don't think so. The quality and level of players in the DR Congo team is superior to the one we have. Imagine, @fistonmayele9 warms the bench, he would be our star here.

@Uganda_Expozed Sorry, this exposes your naivety abt tourism. It's not abt greens or lack thereof. Morocco & Egypt (3% arable) are the top tourist destinations in Africa. Attractions: safari, sunshine/coastline, deserts, culture, sports, medical tourism + supporting infrastructure & policy.

The fact is that Uganda has more tourist destinations than Kenya. The largest part of Kenya Is a desert. Uganda is more 80% green. The issues we have as Ugandans are; 1. Ugandans never tour their country. So they don't know it. 2. Poor government policies. 3. Government doesn't market it's tourist destinations at all.

@IEAKenya @ntvkenya @IEAKwame Retention levels are about 18%. Even more worrying is that of the more than 23 million SHA non-salaried enrolees, active contributors are less than 1 million.

MPs are now warning: SHA is unsustainable. What does this mean for Kenya’s health financing future? The National Assembly Health Committee says revenue is barely matching costs, with low compliance and funding gaps threatening the system’s survival. @ntvkenya @j2mutua @IEAKwame Yet earlier, @IEAKenya flagged the same risks 👇 📊 A KSh 116B shortfall 📉 Low retention rates ⚙️ Weak means testing, All pointing to a system under strain. 📥 Read the study: ieakenya.or.ke/download-categ…

@dhahabu Thanks, I had similar views. Aesthetics matter...the shades look cheap and unappealing. Agree on the eco-friendly point too.

I’m convinced Kenyans don’t like nice things. What is so hard in incorporating greenery? Also, that blue mabati looks horrible and not eco friendly. People are avoiding blue light daily, which happens to be bad for the eyes and yet, here we are. Our engineers literally throwing it in our faces! For an underpass with the words “Green” and “Park”, there is nothing eco or green about this project. What it could look like vs what was actually built. The Nairobi Greenpark terminus underpass. #HaileSelassieUnderbridge

Big win for Nairobi. The #HaileSelassieUnderbridge is 90% complete and ready to serve 21,000+ people daily. This mega project, with modern workspaces, stores, latrines & cameras, will unlock traffic and boost urban productivity. Development that speaks louder than politics. @coolkid__8 HYPOCRICY at its BEST. No defence for Ruto BUT What did UHURU do. If anything, for political expediency, he is partly to blame for excusing matatu operators from the so called 'Michuki Rules'.

@zaxoguda @pepeta_ke What is your POINT? Yeah fun fact BUT they are HISTORY makers! Least qualified/experienced and YET got into the group stage. Lining them with the other 5 who have been playing in the premier leagues is unfair. KAZI kwa the so called ''seasoned clubs in the KPL'

POINTLESS By losing all their games, Nairobi United became the 6th team in CAF Confederation Cup history to lose all their group games. Others were; 🇬🇳Fello Star 2005 🇩🇿JS Kabylie 2011 🇬🇦CF Mounana 2017 🇹🇿Namungo 2021 🇸🇿Royal Leopards 2022 @pepeta_ke #CAFCC #FootballKE

@EricNjiiru @SallyBolo Post 18/19 season, I think Gor won the league X4, before recent crowning of Police in 24/25. Of those times, have they gotten into CAF CC group stage?? Berkane FC who participated in CAF Confederation in 2018, is now a regular quarter finalist in CAF CC. Who is backsliding!

Gor Mahia vice-chair @SallyBolo refuses “to accept the lazy narrative [Nairobi United losing all 6 CAF CC matches and scoring just one goal] that this is simply the level of our league”. Says Gor Mahia doesn't enter tournaments to gain experience, but to compete.

@KenaBrownOti @Eli97720Elisha The league quality is a SUMMATION of the clubs/players + other factors including infrastructure, coaching, etc. For the last decade, how many times have the KPL winners qualified for the quarters?? The truth was regressing. Most recent, best club squad-Gor was in 2015/16
