When I was 20, I hoped my anxiety would be gone by the time I was 30. When I was 30, I hoped my anxiety would be gone by the time I was 40. Now that I’m almost 50, I don’t expect it to disappear. I just expect to keep using the tools I’ve developed every time it shows back up.

Today’s flight was 3 hours late. I missed my connection. I’ll spend the night in a city I wasn’t planning to visit. Still smiling. Why? Because I’d put up with a million travel woes if it meant I got to encourage an audience at a live event. Joy beats inconvenience every time.
