Hell, the best option might be a “retread”, but someone who has been cooking up a new blueprint. Could be someone completely new. But that’s where interview processes and due diligence comes in, not hoping a new fired guy you like lands in your lap.

Thinking a replacement should be obvious is the whole problem. Chasing familiar names that ran their courses elsewhere when they should be looking for a forward thinking vision in a league that has caught up to and now lapped the advantages they may have had several years ago

Trading Laughton is such a shame. Outside Bergeron/Crosby can’t think of many other players spoken about this highly, this consistently by teammates.

@wyshynski Teams leaking these trades to "insiders" is not cool. It sucks for the players because it makes them an enemy to their fanbase if they decline.

Can't recall the last time we had three deadline trades leak -- Myers (to DET), Parayko and Weegar -- without any of the main players having agreed to waive their trade protection when the news broke.
This feels uncommonly aggressive.
