I have been collecting Americana decor since just after 4th of July last year, when everything was marked down, in anticipation of the 250. This arrived the other day. And I have never cross stitched in my life, but here we go!

@JayBird627 It didn't come with instructions. I think it's supposed to be cross stitch but I decided to use it as an opportunity to learn different embroidery stitches instead.

@jessibridges As an avid needleworker and patriot, I was drawn to that pattern as well. Upon closer inspection, I could tell it was AI generated, low quality, and not workable in real life. So I made my own chart in the same style, and got started this week!

@jessibridges i usually see cross stitch as little x's but yours looks like cross stitch and embroidery had a baby very interesting excited to see how it turns out

@mrsdobbins_ If you haven't already, take a look at the Ambleside Online booklist. Begin with year 0 and go from there. I always read to everyone together so I don't pick based on gender tho there's great options if you want that! My boys have loved Little House and my girls loved Tom Sawyer.

I need homeschooling moms with boys to chime in here. What are we doing for read aloud that is engaging for little guys? I grew up in a house of only girls and have a daughter, so I have plenty of ideas for that but now I also need stories centered around brave men, adventure, etc.

Yesterday on the plane, the man seated next to me had cool American flag loafers and it made me sad that we are not being utterly deluged with America 250 merch. Send me the coolest things you've seen, please. I'm in the mood to purchase.

Everyone's worried the new Little House show will depart from the story too much. But my girls are over here complaining that the original show was too different from the books and have refused to watch it past season 1. They listen to the audio books ad nauseum instead.

@jessibridges I always easily kept the show and the books in separate head spaces 😉 I ❤️ the books and Laura made me want to become a teacher. ABC/Disney did a tv mini series based on the actual book in 2003 that was very good!

@EstherY_RN This describes my eldest daughter exactly. I think her first words were, "WHERE ARE PA'S WHISKERS?" She was probably 7.

@jessibridges SAME! Except it wasn't my kid, it was me. I loved the books and the first time I watched an episode of the show I was horrified at the deviation from the books.

@jessibridges A Little House Series that is true to the original, doesn't sugarcoat the challenges but also doesn't turn the series into depressing poverty p*rn, keeps zeitgeist concerns out of it - that is going to be a gold mine.
