Shattering news this morning for all in the football community. The great Dennis Cometti has passed away, after batting illness. Aged 76. The greatest caller our game has seen, a true icon. Dennis was not only brilliant, but thoughtful and generous toward all those lucky enough to be in his presence. Devastating, and thoughts with his family, and many friends, fans.

I kind of think if you cloned an AFL player, there’d be a huge number who could feasibly win the flag… #afl

Idea for the AFL here… why is it that I can watch every NFL game from 5 different angles, the same with the NBA (after the game is over) but the only replay of AFL games I can access is the broadcast view. I’d love to watch a replay from a wide-angle, or behind the goals perspective. Giving fans more access, allowing them to be able to understand patterns and players and structures. That seems like it could only enhance the experience for the audience…

Chris Scott has taken extra leave from the Cats ahead of Origin. Ollie Dempsey played exclusively as an inside mid during today’s 90min match sim. Rhys Stanley (back) & Mitch Edwards ran laps, Toby Conway still a fair way back after knee surgery leaving Blicavs & SDK to ruck
Mitch Cleary@cleary_mitch

Jeremy Cameron is in growing doubt for AFL Origin. Four months on from the GF broken arm, he remains on a modified program, wearing a non-contact cap. North Melbourne’s Tristan Xerri (Vic) & Richmond’s Nathan Broad (WA) set to be named - meaning every club is represented

Breaking. Albo picks ScoMo for the Washington gig to be US Ambassador to replace KevO. ‘This will save us considerable money as he will also be the Ambassador for the UK, France, NATO, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Japan, Mexico , Canada and The Netherlands’

At no point during the five-year span that Monty Python's Flying Circus aired on the BBC, from October 1969 to December 1974, could the greatest comedic minds of their time come up with a skit more grotesquely absurd than Trump placing a fake peace-prize medal over his own head.

@BrianWardhaugh @MichaelPascoe01 @AmyRemeikis There is a cohort of baby boomers who actually vote Labor, many of us are comfortably off but we care about a future for our children & grandchildren. Don’t dismiss us as idiots & I’m not dreaming of days gone by !! There are Gen X & Gen Y who are RWNJ.

Drinking at a Murray River club - fair to say the over 70s are not impressed by the under 70s singing the crowd participation part of “Living next door to Alice”

@AmyRemeikis @mpbowers I am 3 yrs older than Mike. I too have the same memories of these events. I did Politics as a year 12 subject in ‘76. Most of the curriculum was around the ‘constitutional crisis’ but I now know the Christian Brothers did not tell the full story. Alas so typical of my education.

@abcsport 1980’s last session on ABC TV on Saturdays. Bruce Reid and Stump Laird were walking out to resume WA innings after tea. The commentator said ‘Reid and Laird coming in to bat, Reid is the one without the helmet’

@johnpollard58 @tom_king79 @KrockFootball That might be true John but Richmond had dropped out by 2022 so wasn't really interested. He did make Dusty look good in the 2020 GF, a couple of times.

@1116sen This is the exact reason why I was so angry when Colbert left Geelong. If there is any chance you might leave do not accept Captaincy. He was captain for a season and was played one game as captain before he did his knee. Yes it was 26 years ago and no I am not over it yet.

@CroftyV1 @rhettrospective Yep me too. If my memory serves me correctly a young Barry Stoneham kicked one from the boundary late in the last q to put us 9 points up. 2 mins later, 2 centre bounces and two Haw goals and we were out of the finals. The outer stood in silent disbelief when the siren sounded.
