@digiauthor1101 So then why is alcohol legal? DUI is irresponsible and should remain a crime, so only arrest people who put others in danger

@sduggal8 But less people would die from overdoses if they knew the dose and identity of a substance . Reducing death is morally right

@sduggal8 If someone you cared about committed a violent crime/hurt someone else, you'd be much more likely to turn them in

@sduggal8 My point is that its hypocritical for you to feel that someone should be punished for something as long as you don't care about them

@sduggal8 Just because it works for some doesn't mean it works for all, 95% of addicts continue to use after prison, thats quite ineffective

@Dauth_Ben Mass incarceration is also very costly and is not nearly as effective of a solution

@digiauthor1101 If someone has an alcohol addiction theyll get help if they want it.Society doesnt strip away their freedom and force them to think about it

@digiauthor1101 Wouldn't rehabilitation targeted at their specific addiction be more effective and ethical? How is preventing one from getting a job helpful
