@brianleejackson Thank you for bringing this up - it is bad, and should never have happened. The WP.com hosting + Jetpack has been updated to address this, and as others have noted, a general Jetpack change is being worked on.

Careful with WP.com hosting + Jetpack. Since 6.4, they added hundreds of lines of CSS code for fonts that aren't used. I’m writing an extensive piece on Core Web Vitals and I’m reminded of the elegance of SpeedIndex as a metric. On a recent project, it pointed at UX issues that Largest Contentful Paint simply couldn’t have detected. Thanks, @patmeenan ❤️

It is hard to overstate how strong the push for object-oriented programming was. It even bled out into other fields like education (look up "learning objects"). You had to organize your programming projects into hierarchical classes and you would be ridiculed if you did not. Java and C# are a reflection of this era. It took 25 years for the obsession to die down. Basically, the gurus had to be given time to retire. Object-oriented programming can work… but there are serious pitfalls that will make your projects harder to maintain and optimize. Deep inheritance is almost always a disaster. The lesson is: don’t blindly embrace the latest things even if everyone is. Masses will lead you astray. Be critical.

I will use every procedural tool at my disposal to impede a debt-ceiling deal that doesn’t contain substantial spending and budgetary reforms. I fear things are moving in that direction. If they do, that proposal will not face smooth sailing in the Senate.
