Yeah I think this is exactly right. And to be clear, I’m very much pro-bike for runners. Cycling is a huge part of my marathon training. I’ve cycled 452 hours year to date, and since I started running in 2020, I’ve spent almost as much time cycling as I have running. Maybe “downside” isn’t the right word because the upside is massive. You can build a bigger engine, add aerobic volume, and reduce some of the impact cost that comes with stacking more and more run miles. But Brady’s point still matters. The bike can make you aerobically fit enough to run paces your body is not mechanically ready to handle yet. So I don’t see it as “bike good” or “bike bad.” It’s a powerful tool. You just have to respect the gap between engine fitness and running durability.
