@circlete @Ben_Scallan Ah Mary. Get under your bed quick. The world is going to end, and it's all the fault of Ireland's carbon emissions

@Ben_Scallan The problem with you Ben, is that you don’t understand that a Government must lead and not follow. What is good for the country and what is good for a particular sector can be polls apart. Climate change is a real issue but you stick the head in the sand.

Irish voters believed Eamon Ryan and the Green Party were responsible for many policies that they hate, e.g. carbon tax, ultra wokeness, etc. The public were under the impression that FFG were basically sensible and competent at their core, and were simply being forced to make concessions to radical environmentalists against their better judgement for the sake of holding the coalition together. So the voters destroyed the Green Party and reduced their Dáil share from 12 seats to 1, but kept FFG around, assuming they'd get a steady hand of the old parties unencumbered by window box salads and wolves. And yet now the Greens are gone, but the policies people hate remained. It's almost like the Green Party weren't actually the primary culprit, and were only a convenient mudguard for the bigger parties, who are actually the primary defenders of this stuff.

If the Social Democrats want to talk about standards of debate, they might have thought to let me know before they let journalists know that they'd gone to the teacher. We didn't shout over female TDs. We shouted over Ministers. But I congratulate the Social Democrats on being able to tell the difference - I had genuinely thought they didn't know what a woman was. It is a bold new strategy which sees an opposition party filing a formal complaint because government Ministers were held to account. Not even their own Ministers. Someone else's. The Social Democrats remain the only party in Leinster House who would remind the teacher she forgot to assign homework. #fuelprotest #ireland

If you read this garbage you will never get the ten minutes of your life back. Carbon tax or taxing people because you tell them it will change the climate is the biggest lie believed by a small percentage of people.

It’s very obvious that Micheál Martin is in serious leadership trouble. Let’s be clear, a general election would likely change very little, as the same coalition could well return with a majority. So, if we hope for the removal of Harris and Martin, the best we could hope for more reasonable replacements. I know, and agree, that @OCallaghanJim didn’t do his reputation much good in the minds of the public with his handling of the protests. However, I genuinely believe that if we are stuck with an FF and FG government, he has been restricted from doing the right thing by Martin’s leadership in Fianna Fáil. I could be wrong, but I do believe he is sincere and cares about the country. If there were an election, and being realistic about it, the best we could hope for is a Fianna Fáil government led by Jim, alongside Aontú and Independent Ireland. Failing that, a Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael coalition with Aontú and Independent Ireland. I just hope I’m not here in a few months eating humble pie.

I condemn the brutal Russian air attacks on Ukrainian cities overnight which killed and wounded many civilians. Among those killed was a 12-year-old boy. Yet again, Russia shows it has no interest in peace. We must increase pressure on Putin and give Ukraine the support it needs.
