Ladies and gentlemen, let me present to you. The official worst research quest in the entire history of Pokémon GO. Only 2,5 years in the making. Maybe in 2026 I can own my shiny Jirachi (which I paid for in February 2023).✨💫

You can find every shiny Johto Pokémon (except Celebi) in Pokémon Red & Blue (Gen1!) because they originally intended to include 190 Pokémon inside of Gen 1, but due to memory limits they "only" included 151 in the end. Some of them were saved for later use in Gen 2 (such as Snubbull or Ho-Oh). Now because GF didn't fully delete everything about these Pokémon, you can still find specific data of those Johto mons inside the Gen 1 games if you know where to search for them! I discovered this already in 2020, but this piece of information is so cool to me it will never get old imo.
