@allaloneinIove Caution was definitely the more "current" album and has some of her best songs in my opinion (Giving Me Life, 8th Grade etc), but Here For It All feels more classic and inspired. Love her cover of "My Love" but more importantly... all of her albums sound different but still her!

It exceeded my expectations. Its very honest, mature, and vulnerable. One of the media reviews noted that “given the perfectionism evinced throughout her career... this is Carey opting for a realistic portraiture of where she is now as a singer,” and I agree. It was a deliberate choice on her part to keep things raw and restrained and lean into her 70s childhood influences. I feel like alot of lambs wanted a Caution 2.0 but that's not who she is anymore and that's okay! Alot has happened since 2018... we don't mention numbers but alot of people don't realize she's approaching her 60s soon, this album is reflective of her lived experience. She wasn't trying to be anyone else on the album but herself and that's why I love it.
