@EddieComeaux @UCLALawReview @DrUJayakumar With the status of Ivy League Schools and it to be considered to be prestigious, having white applicants having an advantage makes a student think if their merits and extracurriculars matter as much. What’s the solution to provide equal opportunities for students and their goals?

Sharing a @UCLALawReview article co-auth with @DrUJayakumar Bill Kidder & Sherod Thaxton on race, athletics, and admissions. We show that supposedly race-neutral admissions policies create advantages for white applicants.... let us know your thoughts. uclalawreview.org/race-and-privi…

If students aren’t white affluent students, what other factors are needed for them to be admitted into schools? How can we make it equal for all students to be accepted basing it purely off merits and individual accomplishments? #UCR50 @TA_ED50

@annette_are @TA_ED50 Hi Annette, I agree that they should be allowed some type of revenue but not directly through the school. I feel the school is focused on academics but stopping students from earning money else where limits them in the market and experience. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

Can you imagine what its like generating large amounts in revenue for your school and still not being able to profit off your own name? Athletes in school should have the right to be compensated for their own image. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

Should intercollegiate athletes be considered paraprofessional athletes due to the revenue they bring in through spectators and crowds? Allowing them to make money off endorsements or additional stipends might help them learn about the real world. #ucr50 @TA_ED50

@amieucr @abhornUCRedu i think over time statistically there have been more male coaches but that is because they were given the opportunity to become coaches. Women need to be represented more in careers such as these because they are highly capable of doing so. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

picture a coach instructing their team at a game, leading them to victory, and getting gatorade poured on their head. did you picture the coach as a man or woman? most probably think of a man. if you did why do you think that is? #ucr50 @abhornUCRedu

Men continue to successfully fight for women’s coaching and staffing jobs while the inverse rarely occurs. Thus creates barriers for women to advance in their respective careers despite the leadership and guidance they can provide. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

@amieucr @abhornUCRedu hey amie! I agree with your post because when a person is willing to get to know a person more and around them they are able to change their perspectives on them and are able to achieve amazing comradery within a team. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

team sports can help with peoples thoughts on diversity. white athletes with black teammates have a more positive outlook on black people vs white athletes in solo sports #ucr50 @abhornUCRedu

Personal ethics in academics is important in terms of understanding how a college student is in the classrooms. The miseducation of African American male athletes prelived college lives could impact how and what goals they want to accomplish. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

@AAlmarez80596 @abhornUCRedu Athletes and students represent the school overall. When looking at student population people tend to look at academics and culture rather than just athletics. How can we provide for athletes in a fair way just as we perceive students who look for education? #UCR50 @TA_ED50

I feel that cause athletes, and do need some special commendations because they are representing the college in a sense. As in certain buildings stay open longer for athlete students like dining halls and libraries @abhornUCRedu #UCR50

For organizational culture to exist in college climate needs to be built every single year to be able to build a history and traditions to celebrate and discuss. Without the climate, culture is nowhere to be found. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

@Ayoung091 @TA_ED50 For Athletes there is always pressure to perform well on the court and it is also a part of their quote on quote job to perform well academically to push for a better career. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

College Athletes balance out their academic lives in addition to practicing, traveling and competing at the highest level. Although athletes trust the system rules, how can we get athletes the fair share in terms of money and pushing for a career? #UCR50 @TA_ED50

@edisonpark333 @katraly According to the readings, schools are not all wealthy or could afford to provide always the amount the athletic department needs. Being able to distribute funds depends on what each department absolutely needs and not the wants, so pay can be provided fairly. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

Should we compare the salaries of sports coaches to university faculty and teachers? My take? While both roles are vital, it's problematic to equate them purely monetarily. Coaches often generate revenue directly, but educators shape our future. A fair comparison? #UCR50 @KatraLy
