We had 5 open kennels for dogs to start the day, and as of 4:00pm, 30 new dogs have come in today. We are in need of foster homes to help make space for these new arrivals. Visit kcpetproject.org/programs/foste… and fill out our foster sign up and book an appointment.

While dogs were adopted at a rapid rate during the pandemic, the same can’t be said now.
Kansas City area shelters are overrun with dogs, many of them abandoned. And at-capacity shelters like @kcpetproject have been forced to resort to euthanasia to make room.

Thursday, July 20th through Sunday, July 23rd, you can adopt any dog weighing 30 pounds or more or an adult cat for only $30 at the KC Campus for Animal Care, Zona Rosa Adoption Center, and Petco Adoption Center on 95th Street in Overland Park. Pets in foster homes are included.

KC Pet Project's Animal Services Division responded to 79 case activities yesterday, including 38 General Neglect Cases, 2 dogs in cars, 6 abuse cases, 2 abandonments. It's been a very busy week due to the holiday and the heat!
