There are two types of romantic ideologues. The first is the obvious kind: the person who believes in soulmates, destiny, and pursuing love at all costs. The second is the inverted kind: the person who claims the greatest loves are the ones left unfulfilled, that you should never marry the person you love most, that love is only pure when it is impossible. They appear opposed, but both are enthralled by romantic idealization. One worships fulfillment, the other worships longing. Women tend to fall into the first category and men into the second. Both claim to be the “true romantic”
