The person who makes me feel most conflicted in this Jack Chick saga is David Daniels. He's by far the most honest person in Chick's circle. I believe everything he says regarding his personal testimony and life experiences. This is in stark contrast to how I feel about 80% of the others. If you're interested in his personal testimony, I found this video (and a few others) insightful. I was able to verify that what he’s stated about his personal timeline is true. John Todd was selling his story via Jack Chick in 1973, just two years before the opening of his witchy poo bookstore in 1975. So, in theory one could say he used that dinero to dance with the devil... i imagine putting together even a small shanty bookstore requires some decent seed money. Chick reportedly helped Todd out with his legal troubles after being charged with an offense involving a minor in 1976. Todd’s whole story is strange, even the “Jesus Trek” satanist pact story he was selling in 1972 is off and starts just 6 weeks after his supposed conversion. Somehow Todd was able to gain incredible traction for his 1972 Halloween project where he had hundreds of teens from over 13 churches in San Antonio going door to door, warning the town about Satanists before coming back to church headquarters and reporting back all the progress (intel) they made. I don’t see Chick and his associates as a network of individual opportunists, certainly personal gain is a big factor but I can’t help but wonder if there wasn’t something more intentional being orchestrated here.

The only reason I haven’t eviscerated that sorry sack of hay on my shelf yet is so I can look back at it and laugh. Research and reference are nice bonuses, of course… but let’s be real, it’s mostly just for the laughs.
