How did the world reach a point where a foreign military can order the indigenous population of towns & cities to evacuate their own homes, then flatten those homes hours later, & this is treated as some normal or acceptable procedure? Under what international law does a state acquire the right to threaten civilians into leaving entire areas so it can destroy them? Since when did forced displacement, mass destruction & collective punishment become rebranded as “evacuation orders” & absorbed into acceptable military doctrine? They even package these threats with the phrase “for your own safety,” as though forcing civilians to flee so their homes, towns & livelihoods can be bombed is some humanitarian gesture rather than the normalization of war crimes. The truly terrifying part is not just that it is happening, but how routine & normalized the world is allowing it to become.
