Quick shoutout to @RingfenceAI who fair launched their $RING token yesterday on @virtuals_io. We have been a Day 1 backer of the team and have been impressed ever since with what @whitneygibbs and his guys actually built. They were very early to generative AI, having arranged exclusive deals through @Escher_AI for users to get credits at image generation AIs. They tackled the question of copyright and payments to creators of data that LLMs use as probably the first company (perhaps world wide), even having submitted a patent on micro-payments to creators for fair use by AI models. All of this was done while the market was sleeping and the focus was exclusively on $BTC. Basically nobody gave a second thought to altcoins. They struck a deal with @NEARProtocol who were super helpful with setting them up on the AI crypto arc, connections and infrastructure. Next, @RingfenceAI built what is easily the most useful of the crypto AI agents in XAVI and launched it on Virtuals with absolutely no help from KOLs etc (a lot of which had invested alongside us, but while altcoins were asleep, they simply did not care to move). Within weeks it was consistently the number 3 agent on chain. Finally, @RingfenceAI unveiled their now major product: cybersecurity for AI agents. A business model built for revenue generation across Web 2 and Web 3. Not a token pump and dump. There have been difficult times for this team, just like for all startups in terms of getting funding, surviving the bear market and then the “only bitcoin” market. Yesterday, to the surprise of everyone (including all of the investors), they launched as a pure fair launch, classic crypto style. The pool was set up, the team bought the treasury tokens on the open market and even after the announcement for a good 10-12 hours everyone had a chance to buy $RING at a lower valuation than anyone got in pre sales etc. 100% fair launch, even the token for investors were bought on open market by the team. You can see on chain that almost nobody knew, no insiders bought a huge bag and even VCs asked in the TG whether their X account was hacked (I asked, too). I believe the “airdrop 25% to people who staked some token for 2 weeks” meta is value destructive for lean teams looking to build products with revenue potential for which the token will hold all the value. They need to deal with investors who backed them early (such as ourselves) and need to plan to survive. The ultimate stated goal is to buy back all tokens with revenue. I don’t known if they’ll achieve this, but the team is determined, the launch was exactly like a crypto launch should be (even though airdrop yappers might tell you differently) and the product has potential. Plus, any value will accrue in the token. So, no idea if this all works, but when we noticed the fair launch below the price we paid in pre-seed, we rushed to buy more, because this is exactly what crypto launches of serious entrepreneurs should be like. Well done! Not advice.
