Kitchen Table Press was founded by Barbara and Beverly Smith after a phone call with Audre Lorde in 1980. The name was a nod to the historic and social roots of the kitchen as a central space for Black women and other women of color. They released 8 books and 5 pamphlets.

The Human Rights Council just recognized, for the first time, the human right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment, by a vote of 43 for, 0 against, and 4 abstentions (China, India, Japan, Russia). The Council applauded the moment, as they should! A new chapter begins.
