🇩🇪 BREAKING: Germany is rapidly becoming the central military power in Europe, with a sweeping expansion of its armed forces driven by growing concerns over Russia. The German military is expanding its personnel, increasing defence spending toward €162 billion by 2029, and strengthening capabilities in drones, surveillance, and precision strike systems, while also boosting its presence across Eastern Europe, including Lithuania. I suspect NATO allies and their intelligence apparatus already know what’s coming. They aren’t saying it outright, to not rock the boat with the US, but many of them are giving quite concerning warnings. It seems likely the US is set for an escalation this weekend, and for it to increase around April 7th/8th when the largest contingents of newly deployed troops arrive in the Gulf. My best read is we should expect: * Escalating infrastructure strikes this weekend aimed at crippling Iranian response capabilities (pre-assault suppression) * Potentially attempts on Kharg or small other footholds in the region with specialty forces over the next week. * A larger ground assault aimed at securing Iranian nuclear material sometime in April. This of course is the US’ optimistic timeline that doesn’t account for insurgency, and given how volatile the leadership (Trump) is, it could rapidly change in either direction. The best offramp right now, ironically, is the US stock market. The weaker it is, the more Trump is likely to seek deescalation.
