Hasan Piker went to Yale to debate students and basically dropped some facts that are obvious by now. The dictatorship of the proletariat is better than a dictatorship of the rich, and the fall of the USSR was a global catastrophe. It’s wild that we live in a world with no serious political alternative — nothing with even a fraction of the ambition found in past socialist projects. Instead, we have some "leftists" who aggressively ditch those ambitions and lose their minds, calling Piker a Stalinist and a fascist at the same time. The fact that the eng-speaking world even has a big speaker who dares to touch big politics is a miracle. But we’re quickly reminded just how far the landscape has shifted to the right, and exactly where the RED lines are.

@rossfreed @vldmrmetelkin Democracy is impossible under capitalism. Since it takes money to make a candidate known. And for a candidate to be competitive, they have to be known. This creates a bias inherent to the system towards the interests of rich people.

@AbbaEban613 @vldmrmetelkin There are several videos of old timers saying how the ussr was better. If ask about the 90's you'll hear complaints, but that was the fault of capitalist shock therapy. It delivered worse numbers than a wartime economy.

@exgazou @SdibqJgth The problem is political power. The class who would lose privileges with these concessions, is also the class who holds political power through their ownership of capital. Democracy in capitalism is skewered towards the interests of capital.

Легко можно было в СССР изучать марксизм (по верхам) и не быть марксистом. Нужно быть полным дебилом, чтобы не стать марксистом за 35 лет постсоветской практики.

@Kingsof7eon2 @poiu477 @EYakoby Local bourgeoisie supports fascists in every place fascism has existed. This happens every time there's a crisis is capitalism. Which is cyclical. Living conditions worsen and this radicalizes people. Fascists are there to radicalize this people to the right instead of the left

@Lormif1 @HyilmuNnyu @yugopnik Before the ussr, the us wasn't the world hegemon. But as soon as the ussr was formed, 14 countries formed a military coalition to destroy the revolution. And that was the "Civil War".

This take couldn’t be uttered 10 years ago. In 10 it will be the mainstream opinion. One day at a time - class consciousness is a diesel engine - hard to start up - but when it gets going everyone fucking hears it.

@Kingsof7eon2 @poiu477 @EYakoby Not really. But anticommunism it's a cornerstone of fascism. Fascism is the last stand of capitalism against a socialist revolution. The last shot of a scared bourgeoisie clinging to their property privileges.

@Lormif1 @HyilmuNnyu @yugopnik After it became the ussr, sure. But this isn't true for third world countries. If they try to industrialize, they'll get an American sponsored coup d'etat. Like, the list is gigantic.

@apollos_sister @poiu477 @EYakoby Motherfucker, that's how you measure how well a state serves its population. Social indexes are things like: literacy, access to Healthcare, access to higher education, homelessness, employment, etc. Socialist countries have far better performance, for the same gdp.

@apollos_sister @poiu477 @EYakoby No, I'm talking about dictatorship of the proletariat. I just call it by the correct name, socialism. Communism is later The point still stands, i challenge you to find a single capitalist country with better social indexes than a socialist one, provided they have similar a GDP.

@lateAnalog @poiu477 @EYakoby You have no idea what you are talking about. I lived in the former GDR. I know exactly what I am talking about. You are confusing social market economy with „socialist“. How many times did they try socialism/communism?It never worked. And to think THIS TIME it will?! Hilarious.

@HyilmuNnyu @Lormif1 @yugopnik Right back at you. Same logic applies to Japan, west Germany and south Korea. They were allowed, even helped, to industrialize because of their geopolitical relevance. There wasn't a communist threat in Africa and latam, so this wasn't needed.
