Pan cubano. En los 90, abrieron en La Habana unas tiendas llamadas Pan de París, que vendían a precios estratosféricos. Supuestamente, los maestros panaderos y reposteros habían pasado cursos con profesores franceses. Había croissants, llamados cangrejitos en Cuba, y diversos tipos de panes que el cubano desconocía. Había señoritas con capas de hojaldre y natilla de varios sabores. Realmente, era una burla al cubano de a pie. Incluso con dinero en la mano había que pensarlo mucho para soltarlo en un pan que casi se cotiza en bolsa. En las dulcerías Sylvain, regadas por toda la capital, la historia era similar. Ahí los precios eran más baratos, pero igual de prohibitivos para el cubano normal. Pero también se robaban los ingredientes, te vendían pan en mal estado, gaceñigas quemadas o con el infame y autóctono pedazo de bicarbonato escondido en la masa que uno mordía y veía el infierno. Ahora bien, nada se compara con el pan de la bodega, ese que el Estado magnánimo y generoso te vende a diario por la libreta de racionamiento. Hijos de puta.
