Ophanim are depicted as beings covered entirely in eyes — a symbol of divine vision, vigilance, and perfect wisdom. They are "guardians" who constantly see everything.
The red mark near Yeosang’s eye is regarded as a “remnant” or “trace” of his original form as an angel.
Since Ophanim are full of eyes, that small “eye” (the birthmark) is the last remaining trace that he once had countless eyes that saw everything. When he was sent down to earth and became human, all those eyes “disappeared,” leaving only one that turned into the beautiful red mark on his face.
Some say: “Before he was sent to earth, an angel kissed his eye” as a blessing, and the imprint of that kiss became the heart-shaped red birthmark. This gives him “angel eyes” — soft yet sharp, always appearing pure and ethereal.
