The Python Software Foundation is raising a red flag regarding attendance at their upcoming PyCon conference (which takes place in just 28 days). According to the organizers, hotel bookings for the conference are significantly, wildly down over previous years. So much lower, in fact, that the Python Software Foundation needs to book an additional 1,146 *more* hotel nights in order to simply hit the "hotel minimum bookings" and avoid significant, potentially crippling, fees from the hotel. And those hotel bookings need to be made by April 20th. Which means Python has less than 6 days to book over a thousand hotel nights. This is made all the more dire by the ongoing financial issues, which the Python Software Foundation continues to face, after rejecting a $1.5 Million dollar US tax payer grant last year. (The US government said that the grant had a requirement of NOT discriminating based on race. Python decided discriminating based on race was more important than the money.)
