Those are some root level scopes there. I mean, imagine for a moment that Claude was convinced to call: `POST googleapis.com/calendar/v3/ca…{calendarId}/clear` No post body, a 204 response, and in a split second.. an empty primary calendar. When we were going through Google app+security review for venn.ai (a safer way to connect your data to AI agents), we intentionally left out the massively destructive scopes. Not because we didn't think we could get approved, but because there's no valid reason to give anyone, or any AI, that much destructive capability.

Great post. Warning for non-dev folks -- be careful. This requires creating an OAuth app in Google Cloud console. This is not a normal or safe way by industry standards. venn.ai is free, security reviewed by Google and safely connects your Google apps to AI agents. Works with Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor.. and even OpenClaw. Because it's just MCP.. but smarter and leaner. No context window bloat. Behind your one MCP endpoint are hundreds of tools that only get surfaced when your agent/LLM needs them.

Very cool tool, but it's definitely built for tech/dev folks. You can get the entire suite of Google Workspace tools (Gmail, Cal, Docs, Drive, Sheets) in a single secure MCP server endpoint, with a tiny context window footprint.. OAuth, and verified by Google - venn.ai

Yep, great share. BTW, this part also resonated strongly with me: > “Sometimes we over complicate things. Sometimes I've seen a solution over engineered.” Instead, builders should ask themselves whether a given tool actually needs to be agentic. When a non-deterministic part of your agent’s task should clearly be deterministic logic-based code, then replace it with such. Otherwise, you’re just burning tokens on something that doesn’t require a model at all.

I agree completely with this statement, although im not sure I would call them SLMs, but “small models” in general. “I believe the future of agentic AI is many, many, many small language models (SLMs),” Small focused models that specialize can be run on less hardware, be dynamically selected and routed to, and even swapped in and out of memory or the inferencing engines on demand. Out own brain is not a single model, but a collection of smaller specialized models we call “regions of the brain.” AI will follow and expand upon this same concept. —- 8 billion tokens a day forced AT&T to rethink AI orchestration — and cut costs by 90% ow.ly/T8IO50YnnAb

@CaseySoftware At the idea stage, there better be some stupid sprinkled in there. Just keep it out of the execution stages :)

If I spend 30 minutes and gobs of tokens in Gemini CLI fixing a bug with Gemini CLI's OAuth handling for MCP, those tokens should be free. @GoogleAI

Getting @OpenClaw running on your machine is easy-peasy. It's a single npm install command, pop in an LLM API key, and bingo. It took < 10 mins to install/config.. but only 5 minutes to realize I had to uninstall it from my work laptop immediately. If you haven’t tried it yet because you’re terrified of getting pwnd, then good on you. But when you finally succumb to FOMO.. barndoor.ai/what-you-need-…

@crtr0 NHS-06 style is what I grew up on. And bloody hell, I still have the one my grandma gave to me (hand-me-down) as a house warming gift from eons ago. Upside: they’re tanks that’ll last forever. Downside: they’re small. Rice for a party? You’re making two pots, at least.

@adamd @mansillaDEV @jadacormier We did this once at a dev recruiting event in London. The challenge was how quickly you could write a working "Hello World" program in language of your choice. Only caveat - you could only type with your left hand. Was a lot of fun .

Developer event strategy that @mansillaDEV and @jadacormier employed well at Mashery "back in the day" that I still think about: Create a challenge or puzzle for developers to solve. Your booth becomes a place to get a hint, not hear a product pitch.

@adamd @Mashery Thanks for shout out @adamd. Some of our more diabolical puzzles came from the mind of @jadacormier. We ran the API challenge at ~dozen events throughout US and AUS, and you really nailed it on your podcast. Prizes == secondary. Devs wanted to solve puzzles + top the leaderboard!
