We have submitted observations & appeals pointing out that planting was too close to houses, roads, powerlines but are told they meet regulation/ guidance by the Forest Service. Two ferocious gentlemen (Darragh & Eowyn) have shown us all how wrong the guidelines really are?

At a Joint AGRI/ENVI committee on Jan 13th, we had a public hearing on Forest Monitoring for resilient European Forests. I spoke about how bad forestry planning nationally would come back to back to bite. Particularly during recent storms. They were warned this would happen.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin is in Roscommon in an emergency hub for people who have no energy or water Rachel Connolly, who has lost electricity for days at a time four times in the last 12 months, questioned whether enough was done before storm to shield communities

Some Councillors are beginning to ask questions but perhaps more will now when so many are without power ⚡️& water 🚿 . Forestry operators like @coilltenews are very quiet about their responsibilities when they eg plant🌲plantations so close to utilities @ESBNetworks @IrishWater

We watched the trees fall beside us in the wind on Friday. Storm Éowyn flattened most of the Sitka plantation. The electricity wires are under it somewhere. #Leitrim

I dont blame the crews I blame the people in suits. Everytime a storm hits trees fall on the lines. Why have these corridors not been cleared? Why are the forestry company not brought to heel for over planting?
