Thursday afternoon reach. I was still sitting with Ada for that small quiet restaurant opposite the branch. The coffee dey sweet, the talk dey flow, she was laughing at my customer drama stories.

JOURNEY OF A BANKER – Episode 5
The matchmakers no dey tire at all! After that Ada lunch proposal, I finally reply her: “Lunch go sweet, but let's do small coffee after work one day — bank stress dey too much.” She send laughing emoji and “Deal ”. My chest dey rise small. First potential match has landed!😁 But as closing time dey near, the real bank life shows up. Queue don scatter everywhere. One uncle that his ATM card got “swallowed” by the machine come dey shout for the banking hall: “Una machine dey thief card! I go burn this branch today!” People started videoing with phones but Mr. Jerry came out calm as usual, talk am say “Oga, make we check the CCTV and retrieve am now now.” Within 15 minutes, card return, uncle was calm and even thank us.🤗
But he reminded me immediately: That customers are king, but sometimes king dey vex like lion. 🐯🐅
The next morning, real wahala landed. Branch dey pack with people wey wan do transfer, withdrawal, and statement. Network decide to misbehave — one alert no dey enter, another person BVN link issue. I dey handle one madam wey her money “disappeared” from account. She was shouting: “My 250k! Una don use am do juju abi?!” My hand was shaking as I check the system. Turns out it's a failed transaction wey still dey reflect. I explained it patiently, call IT support, and within 30 mins everything clear. Madam calm down, even drop “Sorry my son, this economy dey frustrate person.”😁
Grace and Lydia no waste time:
“Diam💎nd, you handle that one like pro! See as you calm her down. That Ada girl go like this your patient style o.” They've already planned “accidental” introduction if Ada comes again. 🤣🤣🙆♂️ By afternoon, my first real target pressure started. Mr. Jerry call me aside: “Young man, you're doing well, but remember, every transaction na risk. One mistake for cash or compliance fit cost the branch. Focus first — romance go follow.” Him eye dey twinkle like say him know wetin dey happen. As I dey close my counter, Ada message enters: “How far with that coffee? Tomorrow after work?” I smiled as i was about typing her reply, boom! one fine senior colleague named Chioma, one of the RM — pass by my desk. She drops small file and say with sweet voice: “New guy, you dey handle customers well. If you need any help with the system or targets, holla me.” She winks small before she left 😳🙆♂️. Chai! Office don turn to cruise ground. Grace see am and burst: “Ah! Diam💎nd, another one don enter! Chioma too? 😳😳 You go marry inside this bank o!” Closing time, I dey waka go bus stop when my mind dey run. Bank work sweet but e dey stressful — long hours, angry customers, network wahala, and now office matchmakers dey push romance from every angle. Mr. Jerry's advice dey ring for my head: focus on work first. But as I enter bus, Ada message came again with one funny meme about “single banker life”. I laugh and reply. Maybe this one go click... or maybe Chioma go scatter the table. The journey dey enter gear 2 — more customer drama, target pressure, and now real office cruise loading. E don sweet die!😊😋

JOURNEY OF A BANKER – Episode 4 The single & searching news don turn the Customer Service Unit to matchmaking headquarters! Every day na new episode. That particular fine lady wey Grace shout about — her name na Ada. She come to cash a cheque and update her BVN or something. As she reach my counter, Grace no waste time: "Diam💎nd! This one fit match you o. She dey look responsible!" I almost swallow my own tongue. Ada just laugh small, cover her mouth with one hand, and look at me with those sharp eyes. "So na you be the new single banker wey everybody dey talk about?" My face dey hot like say AC no dey work that day. I try to stay professional: "Good afternoon ma, how may I help you today?" But inside, my head dey scatter. Ada smile wider. "Relax na... I no dey vex. Wetin you dey find for woman sef? Make I hear." Before I fit even form cool answer, Lydia jump in from the next desk: "Him like calm person wey sabi cook and no dey give stress! Responsible like you!" Chai! These two no get chill at all. Mr. Jerry just dey observe from him corner with that him signature small smile — like say him don see this kind drama plenty times. I process Ada's transaction sharp sharp, but we still exchange small talk. She dey work for one insurance company, like quiet life, and she even joke say bank work go fit make person marry quick because of the "fine boy with good job" reputation. I laugh, collect her number " for official follow-up" (classic banker move ), but my heart dey beat like say I just run marathon. Later that afternoon, another customer land — this one na real drama queen. One big madam wey her alert no enter for big transfer. She dey shout: "Una bank dey thief my money! I go report una to CBN!" My hands dey shake small as I check the system. Mr. Jerry come quick, calm am down with sweet words: "Madam, no worry, we go trace am now now." Within 10 minutes, the issue clear — network glitch. Madam calm, even apologize small, and drop "God bless you my son" before she waka. Lesson number 2 dey enter: Patience and smile fit disarm even the angriest customer. But the real wahala? The office group chat don full with "Diam💎nd single update" memes from the girls. By closing time, Ada message me: "Nice meeting the famous single banker today When you go free make we grab small lunch outside this bank stress?" I dey still dey type reply when Grace and Lydia corner me for the staff room: "Oya confess! Did you collect the number? Did e click?!" Mr. Jerry just pass by, tap my shoulder: "Young man, focus on the work first. Romance go find you... but no let am scatter your target." The banker journey dey sweet, but e dey get plenty plot twist already. Office matchmakers, fine customers, customer drama, and one calm boss wey sabi everything. Wetin go happen next? Did I go on that lunch with Ada? Or did another fine customer turn the table upside down? Did the matchmakers help or scatter my chances completely?
