The paper states that "it is not clear whether the increasing controls by banks actually contribute to the prevention and detection of money laundering," while highlighting the significant costs imposed on banks. According to the court, AML measures are discriminatory particularly towards people with foreign surnames, stating that the lack of proven effectiveness of the measures "does not establish that this distinction is justified." The court plans to put its research into EU perspective later this year.

@Scienceofsport Also, if you want a sub 3 marathon and you could possibly do 2:56 on a good day, why risk blowing up for 3 mins extra. Bag the sub 3 safely at 2:59. Or fighting demons in the last few miles, you could easily convince yourself to slow down and still get the sub 3.

I wonder if those taller bars just before "major milestones" might not be as likely the result of faster runners slowing down? For example, you might be capable of 3:45 at max, but you target a 3:59, or even take it easier to run 3:59 to help other runners under that milestone.
