Google is partnering with @nexteraenergy to restart the Duane Arnold Energy Center, Iowa’s only nuclear plant, through a 25-year power purchase agreement. We expect Duane Arnold to be back in commission in early 2029. The plant will provide more than 600 MW of nuclear energy to the MISO grid and support our growing AI infrastructure in Iowa. Big step forward today on the market change needed to unlock long-term clean energy growth. Last year, we announced a new utility rate structure developed with @NVEnergy that would enable us to scale the clean firm capacity from our enhanced geothermal project with @fervoenergy by 30x. Today the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada approved this new rate, bringing us one step closer to adding 115 MW of new enhanced geothermal energy to the Nevada grid that powers our local operations. Utilities are critical partners for accelerating the deployment of clean firm technologies, like enhanced geothermal, and we’re excited to replicate this model in other places where new capacity can help grids run more reliably and cleanly. blog.google/feed/nevada-cl…

We have liftoff! After a successful launch this weekend, the first FireSat satellite is now orbiting Earth 🛰️ It’s the first of a 50+ satellite constellation that will help detect + track wildfires as small as 5x5 meters, using AI.
