@nomadj1s Others have pointed out the closest analogs to AWS: Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure. Outside the big 3, there are plenty of smaller competitors like Digital Ocean. If you’re already storing code on GitHub, another option is to run code using GitHub Actions on GitHub runners.

Question: suppose I want use something like AWS for computational power, for Python or Stata, but I don’t want to use Amazon. Is their a comparable alternative?

In the unit next to Canadaland's office lived the artist John Scott. For years we passed in the halls without conversation, until the pandemic, when it seemed like we were the only two people in the building. He was kind, vulnerable, and lonely. Today I learned that he has died.

@borusyak @p_ganong pre-registered an observational analysis of UI data this past summer, and tweeted about it. It even paid dividends weeks later when Peter pointed to the pre-registration in response to (bad faith) critiques that scientists were cherry picking data re UI expiration.
