A group of biology enthusiasts working with @supreetsaini13 towards answering fundamental questions in evolutionary biology using microbes.

Researchers from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), replicated evolution in the lab using microbes and feeding them with subtly different sugars, and observing how their adaptations diverge. In two of their recent studies, the team used two microbes, a well-known bacterium, Escherichia coli or E.coli, and a eukaryotic yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, to explore how they process and evolve when identical sugars are served differently. iitb.ac.in/research-highl…

Our group has an opening to host a student for a 6-month paid internship, starting Jan 2026. If you are a 2nd yr Masters or 3rd/4th yr Bachelors student & interested in learning evolution - please apply! Details at: ircc.iitb.ac.in/IRCC-Webpage/I… Last date to apply: 8 Sep.

We had a very productive and engaging joint lab meeting with @SupreetSaini13's group @microbialevol @iitbombay. Did I mention, it was super fun as well!!!
