‘Representation is not a privilege, it’s a Right‘...grateful to be part of the change that’s taking place. We want to normalise ‘representation’ to be truly inclusive of wider society. All children should feel represented in books and stories to give them the value they deserve.

My acceptance speech last night was a pure mind blank moment, and I didn't say what I wanted, so just to add a huge thank you to everyone for their support. Books build empathy and we should shout from the roof tops about children's books. Hope, empathy, joy.

Just spent over 2 hours talking to a lovely lady on the train to Manchester. Her daughter’s a HT. Other is a nurse and she worked as a primary school SEN teacher. She took my card and will insist on her daughter booking in. Because I’m a “lovely man.” ❤️
