Kwanzaa is a time to honor culture, community, and commitment to one another. Wishing all across Shelby County who celebrate a joyful and reflective Kwanzaa.

Yesterday I, alongside my wife and daughters, picked up my petitions to serve as your next Shelby County Mayor. We are building a movement to make our county a place where everyone can live, work, and thrive.

Sending warm wishes to Jewish families and communities celebrating Hanukkah this week across Shelby County.  May it be filled with joy and reflection.

Our schools need resources. Not just workforce development, but mental health programs, too. There needs to be balance. As County Mayor, this will be a priority.

Youth sports not only provide structure and something for kids to do, it also can be a pathway for things like higher education.

Our Ladies for Lowery group got together over the weekend, I’m so grateful for your support! This campaign is about building a Shelby County where education, healthcare, and good jobs are within reach for everyone - and where we show up for each other.

Our schools matter to me, not just as a public servant, but as a parent. My children attend Shelby County Schools and I see every day how vital early education is. Every child in this county deserves access to Pre-K. I’m fighting to make that a reality.

Last week, we had our first community forum in the Shelby County Mayor’s race. I made clear that who we hire for this position matters - we need someone who will fight for our communities and be able to build relationships to benefit our region.

In Shelby County, we look out for each other. I spent the morning passing out food, clothes, and personal items to folks in Memphis who need a little help during the holidays.

God is good! It was a joy to worship yesterday morning at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Westwood to celebrate Pastor Watkins’ 7th Pastoral Anniversary. Thank you for welcoming our family with such love and hospitality.

It was great to be with my Nupe family on at LeMoyne-Owen College for homecoming. The past few months haven’t been easy for our family, but being surrounded by so much love and positivity meant a lot. My dad loved LeMoyne, spending Saturday there was uplifting & inspiring.

The New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and their incredible Community Development Corporation are leading by example. Their work to expand neighborhood clinics, strengthen our schools, and invest in local resources shows the power of community partnerships.

I am grateful for the recognition I received and I plan to work with the community so that we can turn pain into purpose and build the future our children deserve. 3/3

These moments remind us why the work continues: we work to create a county where parents never have to bury a child, where safety and mental health are priorities, and where compassion drives every decision we make. 2/3
