In 1989, Lazar went public (initially anonymously, then under his name) claiming he was hired to work on reverse-engineering extraterrestrial spacecraft at a highly classified site called S-4 (or S4), located south of the main Area 51 facility (Groom Lake) near Papoose Lake in Nevada.
