In movies & theater design, black liquid or ‘goo’ sometimes serves as a powerful visual metaphor for repressed trauma. here, it follows Seokjin out of the military quarters before he reaches the boys on the other side: it can represent hidden personal anxieties, fear or guilt that eventually erupts and consumes a character that he may have felt before returning. The military quarters is the top canopy to represent they are in a loop of commitment & active duty that they cannot get out of.
