@planesanity The Film: The footage clearly shows the aircraft flying low, touching the water with its left wing, and breaking up.

In 1997 this Ethiopian Boeing 767 ran out of fuel and crashed into the ocean after hijackers try to force the pilot to fly to Australia, killing 125 of the 175 on board.

@planesanity Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961 crash off the Comoros Islands. Marinda recorded the hijacked Boeing 767 landing in the water while they were sunbathing on a beach, and the footage was sold for over $65,000.

SOUTH AFRICA IS SET TO HARVEST ITS LARGEST GRAIN HARVEST ON RECORD We are still early in the season, but the recent crop forecasts suggest that South Africa is likely to have its largest summer grain and oilseed harvest on record in the 2025-26 production season. This is on the back of the expansion in area plantings and the large yields due to favourable summer rains. The data released by the Crop Estimates Committee this afternoon places the country’s 2025-26 summer grain and oilseed harvest at 20.8 million tonnes, up 2% from the previous month, and 1% up year-on-year (y/y). This monthly and yearly improvement in the overall harvest is underpinned by upward revisions to major grains and oilseeds, particularly maize, soybeans, and sunflower seed.

I live in France, probably the most hated country among Africans. Many foreigners live in France from all over the world, including many Africans. There has never been a time when white people humiliated Africans the way South Africans are doing to us. They allow everyone, regardless of nationality, to benefit from their system. Where I live, there is a student facility that hosts many refugees from Mali, Niger, Congo, Burkina Faso, etc. They feed them, give them a stipend, etc. France is more developed than South Africa, yet you don't see white people humiliating us the way our "brothers" in South Africa are doing to their fellow Africans. France is hated by many Africans, yet they respect foreigners on their territory more than the South Africans we all claim to love. As a Pan-Africanist, I am beginning to think that whatever happened to us as a race, maybe we deserve it, because the wickedness and hatred within us cannot be comprehended. Just imagine if we were as developed as the West, and the West were underdeveloped, we would have been so cruel to them, looking at our attitude. My advice to my fellow young people in Africa: if you want to travel to study or work, never choose an African country. Instead, go to Europe, the US, the UK, Australia, or Canada. These countries will treat you as a human being more than your so-called beloved African countries will. If not, stay in your country and do your best to make it better in your own way.

If Ghana had good jobs, fair wages, strong systems, and the government made the right policies, no one would travel to another country to look for greener pastures. The South African woman telling the Ghanaian man to go back home is, in a way, speaking the truth — let him go back home. Why don’t people like the truth?” — A Ghanaian woman on xenophobia tensions in South Africa.

South Africa is like that uncle the whole family takes advantage of until his kids grow up and start setting boundaries. then the entire family hates and resents them for protecting what was once an easy target.

South Africa is building one of its biggest solar projects yet, the 510MW Khauta solar PV plant in Welkom. The project will use about 715,000 solar panels and generate 1,073 GWh of electricity every year. The bigger picture… this is a major step toward cleaner energy and reducing pressure on the power grid.
