I seriously thought all this talk about The Kill Switch in people's cars was a joke or conspiracy theory, anything but the truth. I looked it up and they're really trying to do this. So if the AI BS they put in your car thinks you're impaired somehow, the car won't start.

@stats_feed Status based on access to people rather than capital and material possession. Humans are wired to be hierarchical. As resources become less scarce, people will see their networks as more coveted.

Put solar panels on car parks rather than plastering them on thousands of acres of prime farmland. It’s a hell of a lot more logical.

@Strandjunker Grasp this: you're talking in hypotheticals, as we have seen. When the US needed our NATO allies, they said 'no'. End of story. NATO is a fiction.

US troops are not in Germany to protect Germany. They’re there because the US needs bases to conduct operations beyond the North American continent. If Trump withdraws them, he will harm the United States, not Germany. It’s absurd how many Americans fail to grasp this.

@james_rands Ok, if that's what you would do, then so be it. Busting their knees, or stabbing in the eye would be more usual in my part of the country, but every region has its preferences.

@msaunby Against someone with a knife who has already attempted murder two people (that they know of - there was a third earlier in the morning). Most people would class a kick in the head as reasonable in those circumstances without even considering the risk of a suicide vest.

So the right is "reasonable force" and that is not (contrary to the opinions of blokes down the pub or in social media comments sections) especially vague. Would a reasonable person presented with a knife wielding psychopath think police kicking him in the head was reasonable.

Imagine if you will, that the microprocessor was never invented. Now, the vacuum tube was getting very small but not nearly as small as the mp could. No AI, but we would most likely have some form of the Internet. Most TVs would still be heavy. Likely no or limited cell phones.

@nomanautomata @madeofmistak3 Science isn't so much taught as infused into culture. When I was young many older people really didn't know about photosynthesis - their mystical beliefs regarding plant growth live on in the organic movement.

@nomanautomata @madeofmistak3 Timeless, and yet very modern. My parents had already left school when plate tectonics was discovered. It must be another of those things that Trump and his contemporaries are either amazed or baffled by.
