China firmly opposes US' manipulation of "general license" to restrict China-Venezuela cooperation, said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning on Wednesday when asked to comment to on media reports that the US Treasury Department recently issued a “general license” to authorize investment and operational contracts in Venezuela's mining sector and claimed this general license, which excludes China, Russia, North Korea, Cuba and Iran, would help Venezuela's economy get back on track and benefit the people of both the US and Venezuela. China's legitimate rights and interests in Venezuela must be protected. What the US should do is immediately lift its illegal unilateral sanctions against Venezuela, and not use the so-called general license to glorify its actions that harm the legitimate rights and interests of all parties involved, including Venezuela, Mao said.
