@sventennis I'll jump in here.....even though i'm not a British TV pundit, Sven. It's a way of adding info and variety in the language that you use. Mostly you will use their surname, ocassionally their first name, ocassionally their world ranking AND... ranking within their country.

Why do British TV pundits always mention that a player is •British Number One” instead of the name of the player
